Welcome to the New Transcendentalists

Hi, I’m Jess!

I’m a former teacher, world-traveler, and spiritual seeker on a lifelong journey to discover more about who I am, why I’m here, and what this life is all about.

I started this blog as a way to write about the practices in my life that help me connect more deeply with my soul. I named it The New Transcendentalists because I believe the original Transcendentalists were on to something when they set out to find God, not in religious texts and traditional practices, but in the simple parts of everyday life. Things like spending time in nature, reading and learning, writing and journaling, quiet contemplation, and having conversations with others were essential components to their spiritual practice.

I believe we can learn a lot about how to live life well by taking part in these simple, yet transformational, practices.

If you’re someone who is looking for more meaning and purpose in your life, or you’re just a curious seeker like me wanting answers to some of life’s big questions, then you’re in the right place! You just might be a New Transcendentalist!
